The Colts have been beset a series of four key cornerback injuries that have significantly depleted their depth. Howard, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, hasn't played in a regular season game since 2023.

Broncos coach Sean Payton surrendered his usual play-calling duties late in the first half of Saturday's 27-7 preseason victory over the Cardinals. Payton had QB coach Davis Webb call plays from the 2-minute warning in the first half the rest of the way -- they scored 10 points on those drives. "(Saturday) was a big deal for him,'' quarterback Jarrett Stidham said. " ... Super happy for him. He's an incredible coach, he's going to be an incredible coach for a very long time in this league.''

By halftime of the Broncos' preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals Saturday night, backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham had put together quite the two games' worth of work. In two and half quarters of playing time over their first two preseason games, Stidham is 30-of-38 passing for 376 yards and four touchdowns. That included his 16-of-23 for 240 yards and two touchdowns in the first half against the Cardinals.

"Neither (Cardinals coach) Jonathan Gannon or myself are going to play the ones,'' Payton said. "There’ll be a few, there are five, six players that are on an eight-play pitch count that we consider 'ones' ... we're going to feature (second- and third-teamers).'' Payton said starters will play a little in New Orleans next week.

The sexual assault case against former Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond has been no-billed and he faces no further criminal charges, his agent, Damien Butler told ESPN on Thursday. Bond was arrested in April on an outstanding sexual assault warrant and was released from the Collin County jail after posting bail of $25,000. After he was released from jail, Bond went on social media and said the accusation against him was "patently false."

Aaron Glenn said they "hopefully" will have Taylor back for Week 1. This means that Rice now is likely to be able to play the first four weeks of this season before any potential discipline is imposed for his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas during the 2024 offseason. With Rice’s hearing now on track for Sept. 30, this would make him eligible to play the first four weeks of the season: Chargers in Brazil, the Eagles, at Giants and Ravens.
