Also at the combine, Tuesday Broncos coach Sean Payton was asked if he was surprised defensive coordinator Vance Joseph did not get a head coaching job and what it means for the team Joseph is back: "I love that he's back, (but) I am a little surprised with the season we had and how we played defensively and with 10 openings ... He's a got a presence about him, I think one of his super powers is his calming presence and he pulls the best out of his players that play for him.''
Asked at the NFL combine Tuesday if he has advocated for a contract extension for general manager George Paton to Broncos' owner Greg Penner, Payton said: "I have already. It's overdue, I say that respectfully to the process, but (Paton) and I have a great working relationship so my job wouldn't be as fun or as exciting if he wasn't part of it. That should be something that gets handled quickly.''
