Two Game 5s brought two different results on Wednesday in the 2025 NBA playoffs. First, down 3-1 with Jayson Tatum out with a ruptured Achilles tendon, the Boston Celtics responded with a strong performance to win Game 5 127-102 and force Game 6 (Friday at Madison Square Garden). Derrick White led the Celtics with 34 points, while Jaylen Brown had 26 points with a career-high 12 assists and 8 rebounds. Luke Kornet chipped in with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 7 blocks off the bench. The Golden State Warriors weren't able to do the same in the second game. The Minnesota Timberwolves had a wire-to-wire 121-110 victory to close out the series at home. Minnesota has reached consecutive Western Conference finals for the first time in franchise history. The Timberwolves will face the winner of the Denver Nuggets-Oklahoma City Thunder series. Julius Randle led Minnesota with 29 points plus 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Anthony Edwards added 22 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds. Edwards and Randle each had 20-plus points in the same playoff game for the seventh time this postseason, passing Kevin Garnett & Latrell Sprewell (2004) for the most such games in a single postseason by a duo in Timberwolves history, according to ESPN Research.
