ESPN Fantasy Projection: After a pair of so-so seasons for the Pirates (2020-21), followed by three nondescript seasons in Japan (2022-24), Ponce moved to the Korea Baseball Organization for 2025 and immediately flourished. Thanks to his adding a couple notches of velocity to his fastball while introducing a kick-change, he set the KBO single-season record for strikeouts (252) and won the league's Choi Dong-won Award (their Cy Young equivalent). Ponce returns to MLB with the Blue Jays, whose focus on optimizing pitchers' repertoires was exhibited on the national stage last October, meaning he's a good fit to his new surroundings. Pitchers returning from overseas don't often approach their statistical levels there -- scouts liken KBO competition to our Double-A ball -- but he could at least serve as a volume-oriented matchups play or back-of-a-staff mixed-league pick.
