Fred Hoiberg is no longer at Iowa State, but the Cyclones are still having success in the transfer market. Former Northern Illinois forward Darrell Bowie has committed to coach Steve Prohm's program, he said Thursday. "I just felt comfortable with the coaching staff and the situation they presented to me," Bowie said. Bowie, who will have one year of eligibility remaining, is redshirting this season after undergoing shoulder surgery last March. He averaged 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds last season, and 9.6 points and 6.5 rebounds in 2013-14. A 6-foot-7 forward, he should provide some much-needed help in the frontcourt for Iowa State. Forwards Georges Niang, Jameel McKay and Abdel Nader are all leaving after this season, and the Cyclones will be relying heavily on newcomers next season. Bowie gives Prohm some experience, and the duo of Bowie and Deonte Burton could present issues for opponents. Bowie said he also considered Marquette, Drake, TCU, Nevada, Creighton and Loyola (Chicago). Under Hoiberg, Iowa State was the premier transfer destination in college basketball, reeling in the likes of DeAndre Kane and Royce White.
