Premier League recap: Liverpool, Chelsea suffer shock losses

Saturday was another action-packed day across Europe, as multiple Premier League matches saw shock results.

Liverpool hosted Brentford and tied their worst-ever run in the Premier League, falling 3-2 for their fourth straight loss in the league. Alarm bells are well and truly ringing for the defending champions, who will hope they can avoid making history next weekend against Aston Villa.

Earlier, Manchester United extended their winning streak to three games by defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 4-2. But Chelsea were stunned by a last-gasp winner from Sunderland as they lost 2-1, while the newly promoted side went second. Elsewhere, struggling Newcastle United got a huge 2-1 win over Fulham at the other end of the table thanks to another last-minute winner from Bruno Guimaraes.

In Europe, Bayern Munich extended their unbeaten run to 13 in all competitions as beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0 in the Bundesliga with a fine second-half display, and in Italy, Napoli defeated Internazionale 3-1 in a massive Serie A showdown with title implications.
