Sooners' Bradford to sit vs. Miami

MIAMI -- Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford is not in uniform for the eighth-ranked Sooners' game at No. 17 Miami.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner sprained the AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder against BYU nearly a month ago. At that time, the Sooners said Bradford would miss up to four weeks.

Bradford made the trip to Miami, but Sooners coach Bob Stoops said earlier in the week that Landry Jones would make his third straight start at quarterback -- a clear indication that Bradford would not play against the Hurricanes on Saturday night.

Bradford told ESPN prior to the Miami game that he did not throw passes Thursday in Norman in order to rest his sprained throwing shoulder. He said he plans to resume throwing next week and believes he has a good chance to start against Baylor on Oct. 10 in Norman.

ESPN college football reporter Joe Schad and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
