LONDON -- British cyclist Jonny Bellis has been brought out of an induced coma following a scooter crash in Italy.
Bellis has been treated in a hospital in Florence since crashing near his training base on Sept. 19.
British Cycling says that Bellis "remains heavily medicated" and doctors are "keeping a close eye on his progress."
Bellis, the youngest participant in the Beijing Olympics road race last year, won a bronze medal in the under-23 world road championships in 2007.
He rides for Danish team Saxo Bank.
