Angels GM Billy Eppler wouldn't entertain the possibility of Shohei Ohtani learning a position next season, like 1B or the OF, even if he does need TJ. I think it would make a lot of sense to have him learn some 1B instead of just DH. Their OF is set, and this would allow Albert Pujols to get off his feet. Position players return to throwing far sooner than pitchers, and at 1B, that throwing would be minimal. Ohtani can do it for one year, then be a two-way guy again in 2020.
