Men's Bracketology: 2026 NCAA Tournament
What do bracketologists do in the college basketball offseason? The answer, of course, is work on forecasting next season's field of 68! We've been tracking every transfer, portal maneuver and NBA draft entry (and exit) in a comprehensive database of rosters that we use to project the offensive and defensive efficiency of each team and its rank within every conference. The result is an updated bracket each month until October.
Bracket Watch
It's time once again for the annual "Is this the year?" contest. Time for Lucy to tee up a football and for Charlie Brown to fall on his butt kicking at thin air. Time for the Big Ten to make a lot of noise about ending its NCAA championship drought -- 25 years and counting -- only for the inevitable case of March Sadness. No conference has collected more tournament bids since the turn of the century (152!) with so little to show for it. Heck, even the Washington Generals would have made a Final Four with those odds. Yet here we are, at the beginning of another academic year, and Purdue sits firmly on the top line. Michigan is a fast-rising No. 2 seed. And UCLA, Illinois and Michigan State could legitimately play in April. Then there are the dark horses -- Ohio State, Wisconsin, USC, Oregon, Maryland, Iowa, Washington and Indiana -- who could reach a Sweet 16, at least. For a change, the Big Ten appears to have both quantity and quality. It's the right formula, provided, of course, that Lucy doesn't take her ball and go home.
