Men's Bracketology: 2025 NCAA Tournament
Here at Bracketology HQ, we track every result every night, ranking and reranking what will eventually comprise the NCAA tournament's field of 68. With major conference play reaching the home stretch, our projections will continue to update twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday.
Bracket Watch
It is one of the most remarkable stretches in college basketball history. Kansas under Bill Self has never -- N-E-V-E-R -- been worse than a 4-seed in the NCAA tournament. And in 20 consecutive trips to the tourney, that has happened only four times. Half of KU's appearances have been as a 1-seed, not including the COVID-canceled 2020 event. This is why it's especially shocking to find the Jayhawks all the way down as the 7-seed in the Midwest. To be fair, Kansas is a true 6 on our seed list (No. 22 overall), but was bumped down to avoid an early-round conference conflict. Nonetheless, this is a startling development for a program that has defined regular season consistency. Self never lost more than six Big 12 games in a season before last year (10-8). He's sitting on seven league losses so far this season. Remember, this was everyone's preseason No. 1 team. It's probably just a blip in a two-decade run of dominance. If it isn't, all we can do is tip our hats to the passing of greatness.
