And that concludes all the action of this series and our coverage for today. Bangladesh secured a dominant victory, winning the Test series 2-0 and the T20I series 2-1. Despite the defeats, Ireland gained lots of valuable positives ahead of the T20I World Cup. Thank you for staying with us throughout the entire series. This is Rashad Mahbub, signing off on behalf of Ranjith P and the rest of the ESPNcricinfo crew. Shubho Ratri!
Litton Das: "All the bowlers did a really great job, especially in the middle overs. Although we didn't get any wicket in the first Powerplay, and they were scoring lots of runs, the way Rishad and Sheikh Mahedi came back was amazing. They are our main bowlers, and they took responsibility. I saw the wicket was a little bit slow, so I told all the batsmen to play their normal game; attacking in the Powerplay. If you score 30 or 40 runs in the Powerplay, it will be easier to bat in the later part. You can't afford to be complacent, even though small totals can be a little dodgy at times. You have to steadily go to that target. [On BPL and World Cup Prep] Whoever plays in the BPL, if they play their 100% cricket, it will be helping the Bangladesh team as well. I want all our players to perform when they play BPL, and then when they come for the national team, they will do the same thing.[A Message to the Fans] Thank you to the Chattogram crowd for your support. I have always said that we couldn't gift enough match wins to the fans here before, but we tried our best and won the series this time. Please come always to support us. Also, the BPL is coming soon; if you guys come, the stands will be fulfilled, and it will be fun and enjoyable to play. Always support us whether we win or lose."
Player of the Series, Mahedi Hasan: "Alhamdulillah, I'm trying my best. Truly, I was bowling faster in the last two matches but not well. But after that, I bowled very well. In T20 cricket, the middle over is important, and that's my role. I'm trying my best, and hopefully, Inshallah, next time will be better. I was not playing the first match, but I was bowling very well in the second match. I'm using my variation and focusing on my line and length. I work against the batsman, and that's why I'm successful. It is difficult for me to bowl with dew because I am a finger spinner, but I'm trying my level best. That's why I'm successful."
Player of the Match, Tanzid Hasan Tamim: "First of all, Alhamdulillah, we won the series, and I took five catches. That was very interesting. My teammates and I are enjoying that one. When we finished the first innings, they were all talking about this, and I feel very happy for that. I tried to bat according to the ball. When Saif Hassan and I got a good start, and then Parvez Hossain Emon came in, we talked about batting till the end and finishing the match. I didn't need to go till the end. [Celebration] That's all dedicated to our manager, Nafis Iqbal bhai. Last night, he called me for tickets, and I told him, This is a gift for you.' Then he told me that when I play the next match, if I get 50 runs, just show him the bat."
Paul Stirling: "I think we just ran out of steam today. To be honest, this last game of the tour sort of felt like that out there. We just weren't quite at our best. But I think that crucial period between over six and maybe 12, we really didn't get any runs on the board, and that probably cost us in the end. We gave it our best shot over the last week or two. We're happy with some areas of our game, and we've obviously got plenty to work on as well. It's going to be difficult to defend that low total anytime. We just didn't have enough. I think 140-150 would have been enough. If we were chasing 120 and were able to take the game away from the opposition in the Powerplay, that's pretty much what happened in the end. [UAE series] We should be going in pretty much fit by then, and hopefully, at our best. That's the key. We enjoyed our stay here."
Anver Azeez: "Surely the POM Tanzid Hasan for this swashbuckling knock along with 5 catches !!"
Rahman: "Bangladesh played like wounded tigers today."
4:48 pm Bangladesh started with an aggressive approach, but they lost their opener Saif Hassan in the fourth over and their skipper Litton Das just before the end of the Powerplay, finishing on 48/2. However, Tanzid Tamim and Parvez Hossain Emon quickly turned the tide. Their combined left-handed firepower was too much for the Irish bowlers to contain, especially as Ireland's bowling and fielding were sloppy. Tamim picked up his 11th T20I fifty and remained unbeaten on 55 runs off 36 balls, while Emon provided excellent support with an unbeaten 33 off 26. Ireland put up a glimpse of hope, but in the end, it wasn't enough. Young and Tector picked up one wicket each. Handshakes are exchanged between the two teams' players and staff. Post Match Presentation coming up shortly.
