Giamatti’s son Marcus shared today that he and his father traveled from New York to Massachusetts hours after the historic 8/24/89 announcement. “I remember him feeling really good and strong about what he did in the best interests of baseball. He was exhausted and relieved.” Bart Giamatti died of a heart attack eight days later at age 51.
