Oregon, Dan Lanning reach new 6-year contract with raise

College Football, Oregon Ducks

Coach Dan Lanning has agreed to a new contract with Oregon that will raise his average salary close to $11 million annually, a source confirmed to ESPN on Thursday.

Oregon announced the new deal Friday, saying it will run for six years through the 2030 season. His buyout to leave remains $20 million.

The Ducks also announced extensions with offensive coordinator Will Stein and defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi that run through the 2027 season.

Lanning, 38, has gone 35-6 in three seasons coaching the Ducks. In 2024, Oregon went undefeated during the regular season and won the Big Ten championship in its first year in the league. The Ducks earned the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff but lost to Ohio State in the second round at the Rose Bowl.

"Every morning I wake up grateful and hungry to represent Oregon," Lanning said in a statement. "... I'm also very thankful we have been able to have great continuity with our coaching staff over the last three years. The job Will and Tosh do for our program cannot be overstated. I have seen growth from both sides of the ball which is a credit to their leadership and the support they receive from our offensive and defensive staffs."

Yahoo Sports first reported the terms of Lanning's new deal.

ESPN's Pete Thamel contributed to this report.
