Georgia officials confirmed Friday morning that freshman quarterback Jacob Eason will make his first career start against FCS foe Nicholls at Sanford Stadium on Saturday. Eason, the No. 1-ranked pocket passer in the ESPN 300 as a senior at Lake Stevens (Washington) High School, made his college debut in last week's 33-24 win over North Carolina in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff at the Georgia Dome. Senior Greyson Lambert started and played the first series against the Tar Heels, but Eason came off the bench and helped spark the No. 9 Bulldogs' rally from a 10-point deficit in the second half. Eason completed 8 of 12 passes for 131 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown to Isaiah McKenzie in the third quarter. Lambert, a senior, who started 12 games in 2015, completed 5 of 8 passes for 54 yards against North Carolina. Earlier this week, first-year Georgia coach Kirby Smart said both quarterbacks would continue to work with the No. 1 offense in practice this week in preparation for the Nicholls game (noon ET, SEC Network). "The quarterback plan is very similar to last week right now," Smart said. "We're going to continue to rep both of those guys, give those guys a lot of work, and make a decision as to what we're going to do, whether it's later in the week, or game time." After hosting the Colonels, Georgia plays consecutive SEC road games at Missouri on Sept. 17 and at No. 19 Ole Miss the next week.
