The Bears won Super Bowl XX, beating the New England Patriots 46-10. After a near-perfect regular season, the Bears played flawlessly in the playoffs, allowing only 10 points combined in all three playoffs games, solidifying their place in NFL history as one of the most dominant teams ever.

Monday, January 20
The Bears left for New Orleans without Hiroshi Shiraishi, who treated quarterback Jim McMahon's left buttock with acupuncture. Club spokesman Ken Valdiserri said the Bears wanted team trainer Fred Caito to treat McMahon. McMahon has a deep-seated bruise in his buttocks.

Quarterback Jim McMahon mooned a helicopter that was passing over the team's practice site. After being treated yesterday by acupuncturist Hiroshi Shiraishi for a bruise in his left buttock, McMahon practiced and said "there's no way" he won't play Sunday in Super Bowl XX.

Quarterback Jim McMahon reportedly received death threats after a New Orleans TV station reported he'd called New Orleans' women "sluts" and men "ignorant." McMahon was outraged and denied the statements. The station, WDSU, later retracted the story and suspended the sportscaster.

Friday, January 24
Kicker Kevin Butler received shots for nausea and cramps at a hospital Friday after fighting the flu for two days. Receiver Dennis McKinnon missed his second day of practice Friday with a hip pointer. If he misses Saturday morning's workout, coach Mike Ditka said Ken Margerum will start in his place.
