Having already lost its three senior co-captains to graduation, Boston University absorbed another blow as Maurice Watson Jr., Malik Thomas and James Kennedy will transfer, the school confirmed Wednesday. That means the Terriers will enter 2014-15 without five of their top seven scorers from last season.  "I think the big thing for me with this whole thing is that we love all three of those kids. We really like them and we wish them the best," coach Joe Jones said. "It happened to happen with three guys at once, and it's all for different reasons. We've got to support them in what they think they need to do. It's just what happens now in college basketball." D.J. Irving, who averaged 12.4 points, Dom Morris (11.2) and Travis Robinson (5.5) all graduated. Thomas, a junior who averaged 5.8 points, will graduate and transfer, meaning he will be eligible to play elsewhere immediately. Watson, a point guard, was the Terriers' best player in 2013-14 -- leading the team in points (13.3), assists (7.1) and minutes (31.2) as a sophomore. He will finish the semester at BU before transferring. "I think right now he's looking to play at a higher level," Jones said. "Growing up, as a young boy, he'd always wanted that opportunity. He wants to see what's out there and if that's something that can possibly happen for him." In their first season as a member, the Terriers (24-11) won the Patriot League regular-season title with a 15-3 conference mark. BU set offensive records in blowout wins over Lafayette and Army in the league tournament before losing to American in the final and missing out on an NCAA tournament berth. BU hosted Illinois in the NIT, losing 66-62 after blowing a 17-point lead. Sharpshooter John Papale, who averaged 9.3 points per game last season, and Nathan Dieudonne will be the only Terriers with starting experience on the roster heading into the 2014-15 season.
